"Click here" and "read more" are anchors that describe a mouse, not a destination.
Unpopular opinion: generic anchors aren't "natural," they're wasteful. The anchor is your single clearest chance to tell Google what the target page is about. Spend it on "here" and you've handed the algorithm a link with the relevance signal stripped out. Multiply by a few thousand and you've trained your whole site to be vague.
The fix: descriptive anchors that match the target's actual topic — without keyword-stuffing the exact same phrase every time. Aim for the page's subject, in human language.
Grep your codebase for "click here" as anchor text right now. How many hits? Be ashamed, then fix it.
