"Delete your flops so your profile only shows bangers"
The received wisdom: a clean grid of hits raises your average and impresses new visitors. Sounds like portfolio hygiene.
What it ignores: deleting destroys data and the small long-tail trickle a video keeps earning. Worse, the "flops drag your account score" theory has no tested mechanism — TikTok scores videos largely independently at cold-start, not as a running GPA.
What's true: use private/archive instead of delete. You keep the analytics (the flop's retention graph is your cheapest lesson), you keep any residual Search traffic, and you can republish a recut later.
Delete only true brand liabilities. Archive the rest. A flop is a tuition payment — don't shred the receipt to look tidy.
