MISTAKE: Five pages all chasing 'nike coupon code'
Deal sites accrete duplicate intent — a merchant page, a category page, a blog 'best Nike deals' post, a seasonal landing page — all targeting the same head term. Google picks one to rank and rotates them, so your position flickers and CTR craters. Most operators read the flicker as an algo update and panic.
The fix: Run the query in Search Console, filter to that keyword, and look at the Pages tab. If two-plus of your URLs show impressions for it, you have cannibalization. Pick the winner, canonical or redirect the rest into it, and re-point internal anchors.
Why it matters: You're not losing to a competitor on that term — you're losing to yourself, and the fix costs nothing but a redirect.
