Ch. 16: Keywords Everywhere vs my own Search Console
My home-office site, month 9. I was paying for Keywords Everywhere and KeywordTool.io to find new topics — guessing at what people searched, $20/mo combined, building posts on volumes that turned out wildly inflated.
Then I actually opened Google Search Console and sorted by impressions on queries where I ranked position 8-20. Goldmine. I was already showing up for 'standing desk for short people,' 'monitor arm for thick desk' — real queries with real demand I'd stumbled into. I wrote dedicated posts for the top 25. Eleven hit page one in six weeks.
Third-party tools guess at the market. GSC shows you the market you're already touching.
Lesson banked: before paying for keyword tools, mine your own Search Console for queries you rank 8-20 on. That's demand you've already proven, with zero guesswork.
