The mistake: pasting one huge CSS file

The mistake: pasting one huge CSS file

Many sites load one enormous stylesheet covering the entire website on every single page. The browser must download and read all of it before showing anything — that's a render-blocking resource, and it delays your first paint and LCP.

Think of it like reading an entire cookbook before you're allowed to make toast.

How to fix it:
— Identify the CSS needed for the top of the page (the part visitors see first).
— Inline just that critical CSS directly in your <head> so it paints instantly.
— Load the rest of your stylesheet without blocking, after the page appears.
— In PageSpeed Insights, watch for Eliminate render-blocking resources.

Try this: check how big your main CSS file is. If it's over 100KB and loads on every page, splitting out the critical part is your next win.
