The received wisdom: ask for the follow, get the follower. People run it because follows feel like the growth metric.

But a follow is a weak, lagging signal — TikTok's FYP is largely follower-agnostic, so a new follower doesn't reliably see your next post anyway. The CTA also spends your final seconds (prime completion territory) on a low-value ask.

What's true: a "save this" or "send this to someone who needs it" CTA drives shares and saves — heavyweight distribution signals that directly widen the next test pool. And a share recruits a viewer the algorithm trusts more than a follow.

Ask for the action that moves reach, not the vanity number. Saves and sends over follows.
