MISTAKE: trusting the exchange's own dashboard as your source of truth
A Tier-1 manager said the quiet part: the affiliate dashboard is the network's number, not an audited one. Affiliates who run zero independent tracking have no way to challenge a shave, a 'glitch,' or a quietly rounded-down stat — because their only evidence is the very system they'd be disputing.
The so-what: with no S2S postback of your own, every reconciliation argument is 'your word against their database.' You always lose that.
— The fix: run server-to-server postbacks into your own tracker (Keitaro, Voluum, RedTrack) on day one, before you scale a dime.
— Reconcile your registration count against theirs weekly. A persistent 5-10% gap is a negotiation, not a coincidence.
