Google Open Bidding vs Prebid Server: the neutrality question
Watching: Open Bidding is the lazy s2s — but you're letting Google run the auction your competitor's demand bids into.
— Open Bidding: zero ops, sits inside GAM, but Google sees every bid and takes a fee, and you can't audit auction logic.
— Prebid Server (self-host or vendor): neutral auction, full log-level data, but you own the infra and the cookie-sync headaches.
— Self-hosted PBS gives true log-level transparency; vendor PBS trades some of that for ops relief.
Impact: If you care about auction neutrality and log-level analysis, Open Bidding is the wrong tool. (sourced)
