Your star ratings show on the wrong page

Your star ratings show on the wrong page

Today's lesson: review stars are those little gold stars in a search result, and they come from review markup — hidden code that tells Google what's being rated.

Real example: search a coffee maker and one result glows with 4.7 stars and 200 ratings right in the listing.

The mistake: a site puts a single 5-star company rating on EVERY page — even blog posts — so Google sees fake-looking stars and removes them all. The rule: rate the specific thing on the page, not the whole company sitewide.

The fix:
— Only mark up real reviews of the exact item or service on that page.
— Remove blanket company stars stamped across unrelated pages.
— Make sure visitors can SEE the reviews you mark up.

Think of it like price tags — one per item, not a $5 sticker slapped on the whole store.

Try this: check if a blog post on your site is wearing star ratings it shouldn't. 🎓
