You noindexed page 2 and buried half your catalog
Classic. Client read an old blog, slapped noindex on every ?page=2+ of their category lists. Six weeks later, 12,000 products vanished from the index. Why? Those products were ONLY linked from page 3, 4, 5.

The move:
— ripped the noindex off paginated pages
— made them index,follow (yes, follow is the point)
— added a 'view all' or bumped products-per-page to flatten depth

Noindex still lets crawlers follow links, but Google drops noindexed pages' link signals over time. Your deep products lost their only door.
