Your best quote was hiding in paragraph three
Reporters copy and paste. If the sentence they can lift is buried under setup, they often never reach it.
Think of it like packing a sandwich at the bottom of a full backpack. Technically it's in there. Nobody's digging.
1. Write your single sharpest, most quotable sentence first.
2. Make it stand alone — no "as I mentioned above" or "because of this."
3. Add one or two supporting lines after, not before.
A quotable line is self-contained: it makes sense pulled out with zero context around it. "Most refunds fail because the request never reaches a human" works alone. "This is why that happens" does not.
Try this today: Take an old pitch and move your strongest sentence to the very top. Read just that line aloud — does it stand on its own?
