If line one is "I hope this email finds you well" you're already in trash.
Editors decide in the preview pane. They see ~8 words before opening. Make those 8 count.
The line that got me 4 replies last week:
<code>Saw your piece on X is missing the 2024 numbers — I have them.</code>
That's it. Specific page, specific gap, specific fix. No intro, no name-drop, no "love your blog".
They open because you sound like a problem-solver, not a beggar. Rewrite your opener to name ONE real thing on their site. Go.
