Brand exclusivity vs category exclusivity
Today's term: exclusivity = a promise not to work with competitors for a while. Two sizes. Brand exclusivity = you just avoid that one company. Category exclusivity = you avoid the whole niche (every protein brand, not only theirs).
Why it matters: category exclusivity is far more expensive to you, because it blocks every future deal in a money-making lane, not just one rival.
Simple example: 'no other protein brands for 60 days' could cost you three deals worth $1,500. 'Just not BrandX for 60 days' costs you almost nothing.
Your move: agree to brand exclusivity freely. Charge extra, and keep it short, for category exclusivity.
