Q: To refresh old content, is bumping the 'last updated' date enough?
A: Short answer: no — date-only changes do nothing and can backfire.
Longer answer: Google reads the content, not your timestamp. Changing the date without changing the substance is the move spammers use, and a fresh date on stale info actually erodes trust when a reader lands on 2019 advice labeled '2026.' A real refresh means new data, updated screenshots, removed dead links, a tightened intro that matches what people search now, and an honest changelog. When you've done that, then update the visible date — it earns it.
Rule of thumb: if you can't list three concrete things you changed, you didn't refresh, you relabeled.
