Deleting the duds
Everyone says: "Delete posts that flopped — they drag down your profile's average and hurt future reach."
The claim: a low-performing post poisons your account-level score, so prune it.
What's actually true: there's no profile-level "batting average" that future posts inherit. Reach is decided per-post on early signals. The mistake is deleting a post at hour 6 — LinkedIn surfaces content for days, and B2B posts routinely double their views in week two via search and resurfacing. You're killing slow-burners before they burn. Tested fix: give every post 7 days before you judge it. Track impressions on day 7, not day 1. The post you almost deleted is often the one that got you the inbound, because it ranked for a niche query nobody else covered.
It's not dragging down your average. There is no average.
