Screaming Frog vs Search Console — which shows my real indexing problems?
'Q: Screaming Frog says my site is fine but I'm losing rankings. Which tool do I trust?'
Short answer: Screaming Frog shows what's crawlable; Search Console shows what Google actually chose to index. For e-com bloat, trust GSC.
The longer version: Screaming Frog crawls your site like a perfect bot — it finds broken links, missing tags, and structure. But it can't tell you that Google indexed 80,000 filter URLs you never wanted, or marked 5,000 product pages 'Crawled - currently not indexed.' Only the GSC Pages report (the 'Why pages aren't indexed' breakdown) reveals that.
Use them together: Frog to audit your intended structure and find technical errors, GSC to see the gap between intent and reality.
Example: Frog shows 12,000 clean URLs; GSC shows 95,000 indexed. That 83,000-URL gap is faceted bloat Frog would never surface on default settings.
Rule of thumb: Frog tells you what you built, GSC tells you what Google believes. Reconcile the two.
