Free plugin vs paid: when the upgrade is worth it
A plugin is just an add-on that gives WordPress new abilities. Many come in a free version plus a paid 'pro' version.
Don't assume paid is always better. Here's the honest test:
— If the free version does the one job you need, stop there. No shame in free.
— Pay when you need support you can email, regular security updates, or a feature locked behind 'pro' (like extra contact-form fields).
— Avoid plugins where the free version is deliberately crippled to nag you. Those often break on purpose.
A good sign of a healthy paid plugin: it's updated within the last 2 to 3 months and has thousands of active installs.
In plain words: buy for support and real features, not for a green checkmark.
