Myth: "Their bundled CDN makes the site faster for free"
A host pushed its "free integrated CDN." The site got marginally faster — and the next invoice carried a $0.12/GB egress line nobody mentioned at checkout. A 600 GB month added $72. The "free" CDN was free to enable and metered to use, billed separately from the "unlimited bandwidth" plan it sat on top of. Cloudflare's free tier did the same job at $0.
Follow the money: "free" describes the install button, not the data.
Reality: when a host bundles a CDN, find the egress rate before you find the speed gain.
