Q: We added an FAQ section to a page and rankings improved. Was that the schema or the content?
Short answer: mostly the content, the entity and question coverage, not the markup itself. A health site added FAQ sections to 18 service pages, answering the specific questions people search around each topic.
The questions came straight from "People Also Ask" and related searches, so each page now covered 5-7 sub-questions it previously ignored.
Result in 6 weeks: 13 of 18 pages improved, average gain 4 positions, and several pages started ranking for the exact FAQ questions as standalone queries.
In practice: the win was filling question-shaped coverage gaps. Schema can help presentation, but the lift came from actually answering more of the topic.
