I pitched the gap, not a topic

Instead of guessing what a blog wants, I ran their domain through a content-gap check vs their 3 competitors. Found 14 keywords their rivals ranked for and they didn't.

My pitch:
— "Your competitors [A] and [B] both rank for '[keyword]' and you've got nothing. I'll write the piece that closes that gap. Draft attached."

The editor forwarded it to their boss the same day. Published in 11 days because I handed them a revenue argument, not a favor request.
