"It's all in GitHub" — until the org got nuked
Small team treated GitHub as their backup. A compromised admin token deleted the entire org: 40 private repos, all issues, all CI history. GitHub support restored... nothing past their 90-day window, and only after a week of tickets. Local clones were stale by months on most machines.
They lost issue history and 3 abandoned-but-needed branches permanently.
A platform you don't control is not your backup. Pull mirrors nightly to your own box. Fight me.
