Case: a Voluum-to-Keitaro migration with zero attribution loss
The job: move 80 live campaigns off Voluum onto self-hosted Keitaro without breaking active S2S postbacks or losing in-flight conversions.
The migration SOP we followed:
1. Stood up Keitaro on a fresh server, mirrored every offer, lander, and traffic source first
2. Rebuilt each campaign with identical token mapping, kept the same click-ID parameter name so networks needed no change
3. Dual-tracked for 72 hours: split source traffic 50/50 between old and new campaign URLs
4. Compared CR, CPA, and conversion counts arm-by-arm — they matched within 1.5%, confirming parity
5. Updated each network's postback URL to the Keitaro endpoint, one network at a time, testing each with a forced conversion
6. Shifted source traffic to 100% Keitaro only after every postback was verified
The gotcha we caught in dual-tracking:
— One network cached the old postback URL for ~6 hours; conversions kept hitting Voluum. We held that network at 50/50 an extra day until its cache cleared.
Outcome: full cutover in 5 days, measured conversion loss under 1%, no campaign went dark.
Never cut over cold. Dual-track, verify parity, migrate postbacks one network at a time.
Save this SOP. Run this before every launch.
