Untangling 1,400 inline-styled Elementor widgets with global classes
A legacy Elementor site had styling baked into individual widgets, so brand changes meant editing hundreds of elements. We refactored using Elementor's global classes (3.22 beta) plus a few custom CSS utilities.
Measured:
— ~1,400 inline overrides consolidated to 38 reusable classes
— A full rebrand that quoted at 22 hours took 4
— Generated CSS shrank ~31% after dedup
Pros:
— Future edits are now near-instant site-wide
— Smaller, cacheable stylesheet
Cons:
— ~16 hours of one-time refactor labor
— Global classes are still maturing in Elementor
Best for: aging Elementor sites where every brand tweak is a manual slog and you want to pay down style debt once.
