Case file: "4,000" beat "thousands"
A proof-line test on the same ad, two versions of one sentence.
— Vague version: "Trusted by thousands." Conversion baseline.
— Specific version: "Trusted by 4,217 teams." Conversion up 16%.
— Nothing else moved.
Why it works: an odd, exact number reads as a real count someone pulled from a dashboard. "Thousands" reads as marketing rounding, which the brain discounts. Specificity is a credibility shortcut — the messier the number looks, the more true it feels. File under: never round your proof. The decimal-looking precision is doing free persuasion.
