My commissions got clawed back — was it in the terms?
Q: A reader earned $4,200 one month, then saw $1,500 reversed. They felt cheated. Were they?
A: We read the offer terms together. Buried in the fine print: a 60-day return window, and a clause excluding 'incentivized traffic.' Their source ran a rewards angle ('sign up, get points'), which technically violated that line.
The reversals were legal under terms they'd agreed to without reading. Painful lesson.
Fix: they switched to two offers that explicitly allowed incentive traffic and had a 14-day return window instead of 60. Reversals dropped from 36% of revenue to under 5% over the next two months.
Short version: read the traffic-source restrictions and the return/hold window before you scale. The terms decide what you actually keep.
