The face-out-of-frame thumbnail test that moved the needle
Heard this from a 400K education channel: they ran the same 12 videos with two thumbnail variants via TubeBuddy's A/B tool. Variant A, founder's face centered. Variant B, the result on screen, no face. Word is B won 9 of 12, lifting click-through from 4.1% to 6.8% on average.
The kicker, their watch-through held steady, so this wasn't clickbait decay. The face wasn't the draw, the payoff was.
What does this mean for a channel like yours? Stop assuming your mug sells. Test the outcome in the frame. confidence: high, the test was clean.
