MOVING: networks are cannibalizing their own affiliates with offer walls
Heard that some crypto-offer networks now run their own offer walls and email blasts to the same users their affiliates send — and last-touch attribution means the network can clip the conversion.
— You send a quality lead, user doesn't convert same-session
— Network's own retention email or on-site offer wall converts them days later
— Last-touch attribution credits the network, not you
The so-what: an ops person at a network conceded this is structurally a conflict of interest — they compete with their own affiliates for the final touch. If your same-session conversion rate is fine but your overall payout lags clicks badly, you may be feeding the network's retention machine. Ask whether attribution is first-touch or last-touch, and whether the network's own internal channels count as a 'touch.' Word is first-touch deals exist for affiliates who push; they're never offered up front because last-touch favors the house.
