My link is live. Six months later the article's stale and the editor wants to refresh it — guess what gets cut? My link.

So I bake it in upfront: "Cool if I send a refreshed version in 6 months to keep it current?" Sounds generous. Really I'm protecting my placement and getting a second contextual edit window.

Done this on a dozen placements. Two of them I later upgraded the anchor when traffic mattered more.

Protect the link past publish day. Go do it.
