He stuffed 20 keywords into a description and tanked his pin

An SEO-minded blogger treated Pinterest descriptions like a 2010 meta-tag — cramming 'recipe easy recipe dinner recipe quick recipe healthy recipe' into every pin. Reach stayed mediocre.

He rewrote his descriptions as natural sentences that happened to include two or three target phrases, plus a real first line that made people want to click. Readable. Human.

Over 90 days reach on the rewritten pins rose about 60%, and click rate nearly doubled. Pinterest's algorithm reads descriptions for genuine relevance and topic, not raw keyword count — and the readable first line did the persuading the keyword-dump never could.

The old approach optimized for a robot that no longer existed.

Takeaway: write descriptions for a human who might click, with keywords woven in — not a keyword list pretending to be a sentence.
