Dated answers are getting evicted from boxes
09:40 UTC — Two sources report a sweep where featured snippets containing explicit old years ('in 2023', 'as of last year') got dropped in favor of evergreen-phrased answers from lower-ranked pages. Google reportedly reads the stale date as a freshness signal against you.
Why it matters: hardcoding a year inside your answer paragraph is a slow-motion snippet suicide. Either keep the answer year-agnostic ('currently', 'the standard rate') or wire the year dynamically so it never goes stale in the extracted text.
Unconfirmed if it's a deliberate freshness pass or a side effect, but the eviction pattern is real. Scrub years from your answer blocks. Watching this.
