Maxing out 30k connections can throttle you
Everyone says: "Connect with everyone — a bigger network means bigger reach."
The claim: more first-degree connections equals more eyeballs.
What's actually true: indiscriminate connecting dilutes your audience affinity, the exact thing LinkedIn uses to decide who sees you. When half your network is unrelated industries who never engage, your early engagement rate tanks and the algorithm narrows your distribution. Switching to Follow as your default and letting an aligned audience self-select usually lifts reach more than another 5k random connects. Curate the network, or the network curates your reach down.
It's not the size. It's the dead weight you accepted at 1-click.
