The vulnerability post is now a recognized genre, which kills it
Everyone says: "Share a raw failure story — vulnerability drives the highest engagement."
The claim: emotional confession reliably outperforms.
What's actually true: it did, until "I got fired and cried in my car, here are 5 lessons" became a template anyone can smell from the first line. The engagement those posts get now is increasingly other creators studying the form, not buyers trusting you. Audiences have built an immune response to manufactured rawness. A specific, unglamorous operational story — "we lost a client over a billing email, here's the exact process change" — earns more trust precisely because it isn't reaching for tears.
It's not the vulnerability. It's that performed vulnerability reads as a pitch.
