The electrician who renamed himself and nearly lost everything
Meet an electrician in Glasgow whose business was 'Bright Spark Electrical.' A consultant told him to rename his GBP to 'Bright Spark Electrical - Emergency Electrician Glasgow 24/7.' Rankings jumped overnight. He was thrilled. He shouldn't have been.
Keyword-stuffing your business name violates Google's guidelines, and it's the single most-reported profile abuse there is. Competitors notice. Edits get filed. Suspensions follow.
We caught it before a rival did. We reverted the name to his real, registered one, then earned the keywords legitimately: a strong primary category, an emergency-service attribute, and a description that mentioned 24/7 call-outs in plain prose.
His rankings dropped back the day we fixed the name. Painful, and he questioned the whole plan.
Then the legitimate signals built up over a month and carried him back to where the cheat had put him, this time with no fuse waiting to blow.
He held top-three for emergency searches and never risked a suspension. Calls stayed up 44 percent on a foundation that couldn't be reported away.
The lesson: a fake name borrows rankings. A real one owns them.
