Before emailing I run <code>site:theirdomain.com</code> for a topic they SHOULD cover but don't. Then: "You rank for X but have nothing on Y — readers searching that bounce. Want me to fill it?"

Now I'm fixing their traffic leak, not begging for a favor. Whole different conversation.
