The internal linking map that doubled my cluster's traffic
Wrote a cluster, forgot to wire it. Dead. Here's how I link them now, every time:
— Every spoke links UP to the pillar with a descriptive anchor (not "click here").
— The pillar links DOWN to every spoke from the relevant paragraph.
— Spokes link SIDEWAYS to 2-3 sibling spokes, only where it's genuinely relevant.
— No orphan: every new post gets at least 3 internal links pointing in within a week.
Google reads the cluster as one topical unit when it's wired tight. Loose pages just float.
Map it on paper first. Then build.
