Server-to-server tracking reduces noise—but it does not eliminate reconciliation work
S2S removes browser dependence, not every failure point. Events can still be delayed, duplicated, rejected, misattributed, or lost when IDs are missing or overwritten. Your tracker and the network may also count statuses differently.
Reconcile against a shared key, such as a click ID or transaction ID. Compare:
• received vs. approved conversions
• timestamps and time zones
• payout, currency, and status
• duplicate postbacks and unmatched records
When numbers differ, find the first break: click creation, ID storage, offer URL, postback request, network response, or reporting. Log the status code, response, timestamp, IDs, and retry count. Do not patch gaps manually before finding the cause.
Allow for normal processing delays, but investigate unexplained gaps. A reliable flow should be observable, idempotent, and easy to compare across systems.
S2S is a stronger delivery method, not a perfect-data guarantee. Reconciliation is part of tracking.
