A Pre-Launch Core Web Vitals Checklist
Before you publish a new page, a quick run-through catches the common speed mistakes while they're still cheap to fix. Think of it like a pilot's pre-flight checklist — boring, but it prevents the crash.
Run these before going live:
—
1. Every image has width and height set, so nothing shifts (helps CLS).
—
2. The hero image is preloaded and never lazy-loaded (helps LCP).
—
3. Below-the-fold images use loading lazy (helps LCP).
—
4. Non-critical scripts have defer added (helps INP and LCP).
—
5. Fonts use font-display swap with a matched backup (helps CLS).
—
6. You tested on the Mobile tab, not just desktop.
Six checks, maybe ten minutes, and you ship clean instead of fixing it under pressure later.
Try this: Copy these six lines somewhere and run them on your next new page before publishing.
