Auth checkers compared: don't trust a green checkmark
SPF, DKIM and DMARC tools tell you records exist — not that they're working for cold sending.
MXToolbox
— Pros: free, deep DNS lookups, blacklist check in one pass
— Cons: no cold-specific guidance, raw output
Learn DMARC / dmarcian
— Pros: parses aggregate reports, shows actual auth pass rate from real mail
— Cons: report setup is fiddly, paid tiers for volume
The gap everyone misses: a passing DMARC record at p=none does nothing. And SPF breaks silently when you add a new sending tool that isn't in the include chain. Checkers show the record, not whether your sending IP is authorized through it.
Real test: send to a Gmail account, hit 'show original', read the SPF/DKIM/DMARC pass lines. That beats any checker.
Verdict: 5/5 MXToolbox for a fast snapshot, but the Gmail 'show original' header is the actual source of truth.
Who it's for: anyone setting up new sending domains.
