Every link in your profile belongs in one of four buckets. Disavow only ever concerns one of them.

— Bucket 1: Earned editorial links. Leave alone forever.
— Bucket 2: Crawler/scraper/auto-directory junk. Google ignores these natively. Leave alone.
— Bucket 3: External spam aimed at you (negative SEO). Discounted automatically. Leave alone unless a manual action says otherwise.
— Bucket 4: Self-made manipulation — paid anchors, PBNs, link exchanges, network footers. This is the only disavow-eligible bucket.

Reality check: three of four buckets need zero action. Vendors sell you fear about buckets 2 and 3 because bucket 4 alone doesn't justify a subscription.
