I never mention my link in the first email. Just the angle and 3 headline options.
The link conversation happens AFTER they say yes to the topic. By then they're invested in the piece, not the deal.
Did this across 18 outreach emails — 7 placements, zero "is this an ad?" pushback.
Sell the story first. The link is dessert. Go do it.
