Install postbacks are easy. Event postbacks are where mobile tracking gets real.

For app offers, an install postback only tells you the app was installed and attributed. That is the first step, not the full story. If you stop there, you know who drove traffic, but not whether users opened the app, registered, added a card, or hit a purchase event.

That is where the MMP sits in the middle. It receives the click ID from your source, maps the install, then sends event postbacks back to the network or tracker. The chain has to stay clean: click ID on the click, attribution on the install, event ID on each in-app action. If one link is missing, the network sees a gap and your numbers drift.

Common break points are simple:
— Click ID stripped by a redirect or app store hop
— Event mapped in the MMP, but not enabled for postback
— Wrong attribution window, so events land on the wrong click
— Duplicate fires from SDK and server-side logic

The safest setup is to test one offer with one install event and one downstream event first. Confirm the install arrives, then confirm a single event postback, then compare timestamps and IDs between tracker, MMP, and network. If the install is clean but events are missing, the problem is usually mapping, not traffic.

Treat install postbacks as attribution, and event postbacks as proof of quality. If the MMP is doing its job, your job is to keep IDs intact and verify each step before scaling.
