"Shared is fine until you grow" — the lie of the smooth ramp

"Shared is fine until you grow" — the lie of the smooth ramp

Myth: "Start on shared hosting; you'll upgrade when traffic grows."

Growth isn't a smooth ramp — it's a spike. The one day a post does numbers is the exact day shared throttling, CPU limits, and "entry process" caps trigger a 508 error. You don't get a warning to upgrade; you get a dead site during your best traffic moment.

Why sell it as gradual? Because "upgrade later" sounds painless and books the cheap plan today.

Reality: shared hosting fails you precisely when success arrives, not before.
