The 301 redirect tell that outs a domain reseller
Word is the cleanest-looking link buys this quarter aren't editorial at all — they're resurrected corpses.
The footprint shows up the same way every time. Pull a target's referring domains, sort by first-seen date, and watch for a cluster of aged .org and .edu-adjacent domains that all started linking within a 30-day window. Real aged authority doesn't activate in batches.
— Check the Wayback Machine: if the 'aged' domain was a plumbing supplier in 2019 and a SaaS blog now, that's a 301 catch-and-redirect play.
— Anchor text on these is suspiciously on-brand, because the buyer wrote it.
— The referring page often 301s straight to homepage, passing nothing editorial.
Multiple profiles in the loan and casino verticals show this exact signature right now — same broker, same redirect chains, recycled across 8-10 money sites.
