Everyone slapped object-lock on their buckets and declared victory. But immutability has a clock. If your retention lock is 7 days and the attacker dwells 30 days before triggering, your immutable copies have all expired and rolled over by the time you need them. Immutable + short retention is a paper shield. The lock window must outlast your worst-case detection time, which for stealthy ransomware is weeks, not days. Set the immutable retention to match the threat, not the storage bill. Short locks are a false sense of armor. Fight me in the comments.
