They quote $200. I get it free maybe 1 in 4 times. Here's how.
— Don't flinch at the price. Reply warm.
— Offer VALUE instead of cash: "I'll bring an original data point / a custom graphic / a topic your competitors haven't covered"
— Name a specific title they're missing
— If they hold firm, ask for a discount on a 3-post bundle
The line that flipped one yesterday: "I've got fresh survey data nobody's published — worth a free slot?"
Free isn't always possible. But asking costs nothing. Ask every time.
