"Post a ton and let volume find the hit" sounds like testing but isn't. The correction: random volume without a controlled variable teaches you nothing repeatable — you can't re-fire a fluke. Replace luck with the controlled-test SOP.
1. Lock a format and change exactly one input per post.
2. Run 5 posts on that single variable (e.g., hook style).
3. Read which variant beat median; that's your new baseline.
4. Move to the next single variable and repeat.
Spaghetti gives you a hit you can't reproduce. Controlled variation gives you a format you can run on demand. One is luck; the other is a machine.
