Attribution-window length swings paid-channel ROI by ~18%
The attribution window (how long after a click an FTD still credits you) is a silent term that moves real money. Many affiliates never check it.
From a deposit-lag distribution across ~40k FTDs:
— 64% of FTDs land within 24 hours of click.
— 81% within 7 days.
— 91% within 30 days.
— 9% land after 30 days.
So a 30-day window captures ~91% of credit; a 7-day window captures ~81%. That 10-point gap is ~18% of the slower-converting channels' revenue, because email and content traffic deliberate longer than impulse paid social.
The asymmetry: paid social is barely affected (most FTDs clear day-1). Content and email get gutted by short windows because their users research for days. Operators offering a 7-day window are quietly underpaying your patient channels.
Benchmark of the day: demand a ≥30-day attribution window if you run content or email — a 7-day window silently shaves ~18% off those channels' credited revenue.
