Traffic doubled. The business didn't notice.
A lead-gen site hit its big goal: organic sessions went from 40k to 81k in a year. The SEO team threw a party. Finance asked why pipeline was flat.
The gap hid in a landing-page report sorted by conversion, not by volume. The new traffic poured into informational glossary pages that converted at 0.2%. The money pages — the ones that converted at 4% — had barely grown.
The advice "grow traffic" had been followed literally, and the wrong traffic showed up.
We reallocated content effort toward commercial-intent topics and added contextual CTAs to the high-volume glossary pages. Leads from organic rose from 60 to 140 a month while total sessions actually dipped slightly.

Lesson: more traffic isn't the goal — more of the right traffic is. Segment sessions by conversion intent before you celebrate a volume chart.
