Mobile app postbacks fail when install and event tracking are mixed up

For app offers, an install postback and an event postback do different jobs. Install tells the network the app was downloaded and first opened. Event tells it the user did something inside the app: registration, tutorial complete, purchase, subscription, or any other mapped action.

The MMP sits in the middle and translates app activity into something the network can read. Your flow is usually: ad click → MMP records the click ID → app install/open → MMP attributes the user → in-app event happens → MMP fires the right postback. If the click ID is missing, or the event is not mapped, the network sees noise instead of conversion data.

Common mistakes are simple: sending only the install postback when the offer pays on events, firing the same event twice, using the wrong event name, or passing parameters that the network does not expect. Another frequent issue is assuming the MMP will “figure it out” without a clean click ID and matching callback setup. It will not.

Check three things before you blame traffic: install postback works, event mapping matches the offer, and click IDs survive from click to app open. If those three are clean, most “missing conversions” problems get much easier to find.
