What chargeback ratio gets me cut off?

What chargeback ratio gets me cut off?

Q: How high can my disputes go before the advertiser drops me?

A: There are two ceilings, and you need to respect the stricter one.

The hard ceiling is the card networks'. Above roughly 0.9% of transactions disputed (the major networks set thresholds in this range), the merchant enters a monitoring program with fines and forced fixes. That's existential for the advertiser, so they police it hard.

The soft ceiling is the advertiser's own tolerance for your source, and it's far lower. Many cut a placement well under 0.5% disputes because each chargeback costs the sale plus a fee plus risk against their network ratio.

What actually drives your number up:

— Unclear billing descriptors users don't recognize on their statement — "friendly fraud."
— Trial-to-paid conversions where the charge surprises the buyer.
— Aggressive creatives that oversell, raising buyer's remorse.

Monitor disputes per sub-ID weekly. A single misleading creative can push one placement past the line and drag your whole account into review.

Short version: the network line is around 0.9%, but advertisers cut you far earlier. Watch disputes per source and fix billing clarity first.
